Getting To Know Me...

I KNOW I should get back to blogging. I enjoy it, its my life journal, I can share my crafties, it's fun to chat with and make new friends online...

However.

Sometimes I just don't have "it".

Some days I compose blog posts in my head all day long. Other days my head is like, "Dude! Take a break from all the mental composing and just chillax!"

We are currently on an extended chillaxing season.

However. I miss it and miss you! Back to it I go!

It's been quite awhile since I posted some great stuff, so in the interest of getting to know you and getting to know all about you, getting to like you, getting to hope you like me (Yep, hum the song from 'The King and I' along with me please) I'm filling out a bunch of questions about me.

Because Vintage Dutch Girl? She's chillaxin and has nothing fresh and sassy in her head right now.

Here goes:

High heels or boots? Depends. If it's THESE high heels:



then by all means yes, high heels. But I've discovered they don't quite go with everything. Like my used-to-be-black-now-faded-to-gray yoga pants. Not a great look.

If it's THESE boots:



then by all means yes, boots! And these look MUCHLY better with my used-to-be-black-now-faded-to-gray yoga pants. However it makes me look like a slubby slob. No one wants to be a slubby slob. Still love my rain boots though!

What time did you get up this morning? I slept in til seven. I know, such a rebel.

Diamonds or pearls? Uh, both!? Love me some pearls, but diamonds??? You know what they say about diamonds and being, you know, a GIRL.

What was the last film you saw at the cinema? So long ago I don't even remember. Because really? Spend $25 to sit in a stuffy or freezing theater with someone stinky sitting in front of you, someone laughing too loud behind you and coughing all over you (ewwwwww) or spend $1 on a new release movie from those handy dandy DVD dispensing machine thingys and get yummy takeout??? HELLO. Duh.

What is your favorite T.V. show? This is sorta embarrassing, but 'Say Yes To The Dress'. I have NO idea why I'm obsessed with weddings. I just love em. Yes, I got married TEN years ago (celebrating getting to double digits this summer!) and have zero plans for having a recommitment ceremony or anything, but I surely do love me some wedding dress shopping.

What do you usually have for breakfast? Flavored sugar-free creamer with a splash of coffee, bowl of healthy cereal or yogurt.

What food do you dislike? Super spicy food, curry

What is your favorite CD at the moment? Seeds Family Worship. LOVE THESE. Thanks to Missy for the recommendation awhile back.

Favorite Clothing? A good well fitting pair of jeans and a LONG perfect t-shirt....hopefully individually sassified by me of course.

If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go? Just give me a warm sunny beach, my husband, a book, a bikini, some light sunscreen and a fruity iced drink and I'm good. Pick me up in a month or two.

Are you an organized person? Um. Yes? (Stop laughing Mom. And Lance...you can pick your jaw up off the floor now.) I'd LIKE to be organized. We are in an a major house revamp/organization/clean/purge overtaking right now. Which reminds me I'm supposed to be in the garage purging as we speak (Type). Ah well, gotta have a break now and then, right?

Where would you like to retire? See the vacation answer.

What was your most recent memorable birthday? A few years back I was three months postpartum with a screaming colicky child and we were booted out of our apartment (they converted them to condos) and were moving. I remember thinking, "really!? THIS SUCKS." So memorable? Yes. Good thing is it's the worst birthday I've had. Every other birthday has been great!

When is your BIRTHDAY? It was 3 days ago! Yep, my birthday rings in Spring!

What are you going to do when you finish this? Uh, revamp/organization/clean/purge the garage. Ugh.

Are you a morning person or a night person? Night! However, I have two little peoples who are VERY much morning peoples. I have to pretty much force myself to go to bed at a decent hour and while I wake up between 6 - 7 every morning I'm not really awake until nine-ish.

Any exciting news you'd like to share that is great? We bought new garage storage shelves! Woo HOO! E.X.C.I.T.I.N.G!

What did you want to be when you were little? Kristi Yamaguchi

What was the last thing you ate? Knock off Olive Garden Salad Dressing on romaine and a bottled Starbucks Mocha Frapp.

Last person you spoke to on the phone? My sweet hubby.

Favorite soft drink? Diet Coke, all the way baby.

Hair color? Dark Brunette. So far, I've pulled one gray hair out of my head. I'll keep you updated.

Summer or winter? I love each and every season. I'm one of those who says, " I LOVE this (whatever season we're currently beginning) season the BEST!" with every single season.

Chocolate or vanilla? Chocolate, chocolate and some more chocolate.

Coffee or tea? Coffee! Hello!? I live in the pacific NW. Not drinking coffee is almost sacrilegious.

When was the last time you cried? Yesterday.

What is under your bed? All my gift wrapping supplies and only ONE dust bunny.

What did you do last night? Got all caught up on my Beth Moore Esther bible study (it's awesome if you are looking for one) and watched 24.

Best quality you have? No idea.

How many years at your current job? Three plus change. Before that seven years being a high risk OB RN. Miss it like crazy, but don't know that I'll ever go back. We'll see.

Favorite day of the week? Saturday!

Positive or negative? I'm positive in general. What's to be negative about? I'm saved by grace. End of story.

My Beautification Stuff...

I was tagged for the Medicine Cabinet Meme by my bloggy ebuddy Growing Up Mo'. Of course I am playing along cause my bloggy folder fodder (say THAT ten times fast!) is either A. Empty or B. too dull for words.

So, here we go. The guidelines for the M.C. Meme:

Let us begin. Because I don't even have a medicine cabinet I did drawer pictures. I have three drawers in my bathroom that I shove all my junk into. And because I've been lazy, I haven't bought those handy dandy doodads to organize my stuff.

Alex, can we see what we have behind drawer #1?

Oh, exciting stuff. The Vaseline body butter is enough to make me celebrate, not to mention my apparent need of not three, but FOUR dark brown cover girl powder compacts. You know the funny thing? They are all different colors. One for winter pastyness, two for summer tan (doesn't a tan sound GLORIOUS right now?) and one for normal. Please tell me I'm not alone in this rationale?

Lots of hair care products, hair dryer, blah blah blah. Oh wait, what's that funny white circle container? Anyone have a baby recently? Yep, you know what those are (wink wink). Also, a pink hat, because why not keep a pink hat in your bathroom? Makes sense to me.

See the brownish fabricky things? Those are non-skid hospital socks. I can explain.

I use them for safe storage of my Chi flat iron when it's not sitting out on my counter and for traveling. Gotta protect those ceramic plates. Those babies are expensive to replace. Do try my flatiron storage method, but please wash the socks before you use them.

Obviously I mostly keep my jewelry in here. Very neat and clean, huh?

What's making me laugh is that I just noticed I have a blue deodorant in every drawer. Just in case, you know.

And lastly, the pièce de résistance:



My hidden portable medicine "cabinet" in our walk in closet. Yep, because if you need face wash, shaving cream or a good ole Ace bandage while changing your clothes it's right at your fingertips. OR, if your husband is a dentist you can store 8 different electric toothbrushes in there. And I didn't even take a picture of the 3 boxes of toothpaste samples on the shelf. Pity.

Things About Me...

Shauna over at Blah Blah Blog tagged me an embarrassing amount of days ago, so here I am, finally doing it!

Favorite person (outside family)? Do I even dare answer this? Nope!

Favorite food? Hmmm, right now I would have to say Symphony Toffee with Almonds Milk Chocolate. Oh wait, I say that ALL the time.

Quirks about you? I sleep with 4 pillows. Head, knees, back and tummy. Got used to sleeping that way when pregnant with Bubbalu...and have never looked back.

How would the person who loves you most describe you in ten words or less? I would ask. He is not home. We'll see if he gets home before I go to post this. Or maybe, he should make a little comment and tell you people about me.

Any regrets in life? Not singing Karaoke on our cruise. Seriously, that is all I can think of.

Favorite Charity/ Cause? Anonymous donations/gifts to someone you know in real life who really needs something that you can easily provide.

Favorite Blog recently? Uh, check out my blogroll, do you really think I can pick just one?

Something you can’t get enough of? Hearing Bubbalu laugh. The beauty of his laugh actually makes me cry.

Worst job you’ve ever had? Dishwasher at a local Dutch restaurant. The food was delicious, scrubbing plates was not.

What job would you pay NOT to have? Professional diaper bomb changer...oh wait, I already DO that!

If you could be a fly on the wall, where? I actually want to watch Bubbalu while he goes to sleep. I want to see him play with his stuffed animals, jump like a monkey, and babble to himself.

Guilty Pleasure? Being lazy during Bubbalu's nap time.

If you HAD to spend $1,000 on YOURSELF, how would you spend it? HellO! Shopping!!

Favorite thing about your house? Well, let's not talk about the house I currently am in, let's talk about the house I am moving into in 3 1/2 weeks. I would say my favorite thing in our new house is a dishwasher that is actually IN the kitchen...and space, mucho space...and a garage! I finally will have a garage!

Least favorite thing about your house? Our new house still has a dirt backyard, so that's probably not conducive to keeping a house clean, what with a toddler who LOVES dirt and all...

One thing you are bad at? Talking on the phone. I just don't like it. It's hard to hear people with iffy coverage, you can't see their face and therefore, their emotions, and I prefer to email or see someone in person.

One thing you’re good at? Talking to new people, keeping the conversation going...because I fear SILENCE in a conversation. It makes me uncomfortable. So, I ask a ton of questions.

If you could change something about your circumstances, what? I would move out now and into our new home. AND, I would take all of my friends from Seattle home with me.

Who would you like to meet someday? A niece or nephew from my side of the family...hint hint.

What makes you feel sexy? New outfit, hair done and makeup on.

What is the hardest part of your job? Uh, diaper bomb changing...duh. That, and trying to figure out what to do about day to day frustration without losing my mind.

When are you most relaxed? In the evening, Bubbalu in bed, dishes done, clean house...just my husband and I and a movie

What stresses you out? Money...and the lack thereof.

What can you not live without? Adequate sleep. Really. I turn into a scary crabby monster version of myself.

Do you agree or disagree with the recent article that reported that blogs are authored by narcissists? Uh, hellO!? Who wouldn't want to read about me!? And Bubbalu, and diaper bombs, and fashion!?

Why do you blog? It is REALLY cheap therapy...

The Hubby Meme

Ms. DiaperDiaries tagged me again for this Hubby Meme. Enjoy!

How long did you date? We dated for 3 years.

How old is he? 27, and a whole 2ish weeks younger than I am.

Who eats more? I HOPE he does, because if I do, that's pretty embarrassing.

Who said “I love you” first? He did :)

Who is taller? Him, by about a foot. Ok, not quite a foot, but close.

Who sings better? Uh, I asked him this question, and he REFUSED to answer me. So, either he thinks he does and doesn't want to hurt my feelings, or he is afraid of what it might do to my ego if he says I sing better. So. We are leaving this one unanswered :)

Who is smarter? Uh, DUH!

Whose temper is worse? I plead the fifth.....

Who does the laundry? I do most of the time.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? K, if you are standing at the foot of the bed, I sleep on the right. If you are laying in the bed on your back, Lance sleeps on the right. If you are laying in the bed on your stomach, I sleep on the right. Clear as mud?

Who pays the bills? Bills? We have bills?

Who cooks dinner? I do most of the time, but he can hold his own in there.

Who drives when you are together? He does, although I tell him what to do :)

Who is more stubborn? He is.

Who kissed who first? He ASKED me if he could kiss me, so I would say he did, but with permission.

Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? I am.

Whose parents do you see the most? I would say it is really equal. Helps that they live within a 1/2 mile of each other. But, I go on vacation with his family the most (yep, without him).

Who proposed? He did, at sunset, overlooking the Grand Canyon...Awwwww.

Who is more sensitive? I am.

Who has more friends? Uh, do bloggyland friends count? Even so, then I would STILL say him.

Who has more siblings? He does, four to two.

Who wears the pants in the family? He does, but I DO have a rockin pair of jeans.

2. Born to Sign : K, so Bubbalu does ONE sign at 16 months (all done) but I STILL think this site is cool. You don't have to go out and buy a signing book, just look it up here, and they give you the gesture and the suggested use.
3. Dafont : A resource for free down loadable fonts. Hello! Did you hear me?It's FREE. Incredibly fun for scrapbooking titles.
4. Tacky Christmas Yards : One of my all time favorite sites, especially around the holidays. I have a thing about nice looking Christmas trees....

What I was doing 10 years ago: 10 years ago, I was a junior in high school. I could often be found strolling the school halls hand in hand with my new hot boyfriend. I was cheering for the football and basketball squad and spent a lot of time on my hair.

5 Things on my To Do List today: 1. Hang up pre-smoothed, foot high pile of clean shirts in the closet, 2. Go to the library and get Frommers Cruise travel guide, 3. work out, 4. Do NEXT set of laundry (hopefully #1 has been completed by this point....we'll see), 5. Kiss my hot high school boyfriend.

Things I would do if I were a Billionaire: Pay off debt ( HELLO, Dental school isn't free!), build a new church or seven, buy a new home or seven, buy a bumblebee car , pre-pay kids education, retire at 30 with my hot high school boyfriend.

3 of my Bad Habits: Finishing people's sentences, staying up too late and sleeping in too late, not flossing (don't worry, my hot high school boyfriend regularly cleans my teeth).

5 Jobs I have had: Paper shredder (my Papa's a lawyer), local dutch restaurant's dishwasher (my fingers are still scarred), Nurses Aid at long-term care facility, file clerk at insurance agency (to this day I have NO IDEA what I was doing there!), high-risk obstetric nurse.
