Sassy and Sophisticated...

Hiya! I’ve had this new sassy and sophisticated cozy warm infinity scarf design brewing in my mind for a few months and finally got around to figuring out exactly how I wanted it to look.

I am so excited to finally show you the final outcome! Pin It

Sassy and Sophisticated by Vintage Dutch Girl on Etsy.

There’s no reason you can’t look stunning when it’s stinkin cold outside! I have a bunch of different varieties coming….such as teal, champagne, cream, black and gray. Ah yes, wonderful FALL colors!

As for something more blatantly AUTUMN I have this new gorgeous Burnt Umber Blossom print:

I love sewing these up, they make me smile!

I’m doing some MAJOR house whipping today, hoping Tinkerbell can come sprinkle some magical super fairy dust on me so I can flit and fly all about my house. Seriously. There isn’t ONE room in my house that I would be proud to show my Grandma. Coffee coffee coffee……

Speaking of Tink...

I may be making Lil Chick a Tinkerbell costume for our Harvest festival party this October. We’ve been bringing back the VHS tapes in the bonus room while I do some sewing. The kiddos are LOVING Peter Pan, The Lion King (Uh, FFW through the scary parts!), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Pinnochio.

It’s fun to see the kiddos enjoy movies I enjoyed as a child. Now, if I can find (thrifted, of course) Anne of Green Gables, Lady and the Tramp, Dumbo and Cinderella on VHS our collection will be almost complete. It still makes me giggle to see those ginormous VHS tapes. Remember waiting FOREVER for them to rewind?

Be kind, rewind!

Tweets of Monkeys and Queso...

Yup. Finally caved.

Even flopping and floundering around as a newly hatched lil twittery bird, you are invited to join in and follow me. You'll enjoy me chattering about skinny monkeys, the nutritional benefits of consuming queso and other equally electrifying topics that will most assuredly stimulate scholarly dialogue.

You know......about moneys and queso.

Huh, maybe the monkeys need to EAT some queso?

Told ya it'd be ELECTIFYING. Convincing, ain't it?
I know what you're thinking, "You had me at Queso".

Help a lady out and leave me some hint/tips in the comments cause this newly hatched lil twitter chick has no idea what she's doing...

My Hair Has Me All Ferklempt...

I just broke the super sharp upper slicing blade off my serger.

Stupid pin. Yup, I forgot about a hidden pin and let it go through the serger. Not a good plan.

The upper chunk of the blade flew off into a pile of unrolled yellow ribbon on my sewing counter with the sound of Julie Andrews singing supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in the background. Do I need to wear safety goggles when sewing? Maybe.

Been searching online for an inexpensively priced blade replacement. Bah!

I'm feeling a little off today. I think I know why. I'm wearing my hair in a side messy bun and I think my brain's confused. Too much pressure and tension on one side of the head has my neurons misfiring and synapses all askew.

I think I'd better switch sides half way through the day. I wouldn't want to start walking sideways or anything.

That's it. The messy side bun has me all ferklempt today.

Yup, I'm blaming it on my hair.

+ 2 bonus points if you know the definition of 'ferklempt' and have used it appropriately in a sentence within the last two weeks.

+5 bonus points if you have used the word 'Ferklempt' today.

+35 points if you can sing the chorus to Craig Morgan's song 'International Harvester' by heart along with me.

+1,247 points if you can tell me what these points are for.

Told ya I was ferklempt...

p.s. you win the point game if you actually clicked over and sang with the video. Tell me, did anyone click over?

Busy BEIGE Bloggy Break...

Well lookey there, took another bloggy break. Mama's been busy.

Busy painting some walls. Now, don't get all excited about a special color or anything, it's BEIGE. Boring boring BEIGE. I had to paint over the ugly non-flattering brown-red sludge that the "interior designer" picked for our home when it was built. It made the woodwork look orange. Not just a tinge of orange, but IN YOUR FACE orange. I was o-so-happy to get rid of it. Even if it was to paint it BEIGE. Had to make the room ready for our new chocolate brown sectional couch. The family room is coming together nicely. Except for all the BEIGE.

Can you tell I'm not a huge fan of the BEIGE? But it's worlds better than the sludge.

Busy feeding the children. Because they are food disposal professionals. They HAVE to be going through growth spurts because this is crazyness.

Busy cleaning and organizing the home front. Yep, unpleasant, but someone's gotta do it.

Busy building some gates for our yard. You know, a child backyard containment assistance device. The hubby and I have been having fun doing some carpentry. Power tools make me smile. I've got a bunch of projects on my list.

Busy getting the boy allergy tested. Let's just say skin pricking tests aren't Bubbalu's most favorite pastime. Mama and Bubbalu were both exhausted after that appointment. Starting to wonder what shenanigans Bubbalu will be getting into once he's healthier. Note to self: Hide the sharpies in a better location.

Busy helping Bubbalu and Lil Chick make my sister Sallie a birthday video. Not your average Birthday song, but oh well...

OK. The bloggy break is now over, nice to see your lovely faces again...

Quivering Eyeballs...

I did a few loads of laundry last night while watching 24 and then CSI: Miami.

I was so stinkin proud of myself for completely catching up on the laundry. Not only was it washed...but it was FOLDED within an hour of exiting the dryer.

That is rare in these parts.

I also actually carried the laundry basket complete with folded and organized clean laundry UPSTAIRS.

I know. Lance about fainted.

And this morning? I PUT IT ALL AWAY.

Now I just about fainted.

But guess what?

Walked into the laundry room about forty minutes ago and saw a laundry basket full of dirty clothes.

FULL.

My family produces dirty laundry so fast it makes my head spin and my eyeballs quiver.

I know. Quivering eyeballs are an unfortunate side-effect of dirty laundry overload.

Ya know, now that I think about it the quiver eyeballs may also be due to the sugar overload from the toffee bars I noshed on while watching the last hour of 24.

The rate of chewing rose simultaneously with the degree of tension.

And 24 had A LOT of tension.

And can I just say? I didn't remember who Renee Walker was. I seriously don't remember her from last season. She looks vaguely familiar but the story line is a no go in my brain's "remember this" section.

Probably because I was a just a tad bit sleep deprived during the last season.

And I have finally discovered the reason why I like CSI: Miami over Las Vegas or New York.

It's COLOR.

CSI: Miami has LOTS of color. Gorgeous blue water, clear sunny skies and lots and lots of COLOR. I live in the pacific northwest, we don't get a TON of color and clear blue sunny skies.

One could argue watching multiple episodes of CSI:Miami may in fact repel the late winter/early spring "gloomies" that pacific northwest residents are commonly afflicted with.

So, I'm off to do MORE laundry, nosh on toffee bars and have some "gloomies" therapy...

We Just Stay Home And Lie Around...

Happily enjoying lying around and doing nothing today.

And by nothing I do mean cleaning the house, doing laundry, feeding and clothing two children and trying to stay cool.

I love being a stay-at-home pirate...

Proud To Be An American...

We are kinda patriotic over here.

On or about the second week in June I start listening to my Lee Greenwood CD in anticipation of the 4th of July. It reminds me that our freedom was fought for and that I AM proud to be an American.

Bubbalu is proud to be an American too:

Wishing you a happy and safe Independence day!

Susan Boyle...

Haven't heard of Susan Boyle yet? The blogisphere, twitter, facebook and email are hopping with Susan Boyle's Britain's Got Talent audition. She makes me want to cry, but in a good way.
I love what the judges say at the end. Check her out...

Short Of Breath...

Seen at the gym last night:

If at any time during exercise you feel faint, short of breath or are experiencing heart palpitations stop exercising immediately and seek the help of a physician.

Hmmm, every time I exercise I am short of breath but I'm pretty sure my physician would say to get my tush back up on that treadmill.

Remember this hilarious music video by OK Go? I can't NOT watch it:

Especially the guy in the skinny red pants.

How fun would it be to start doing the treadmill dance the next time I'm at the gym?

I'm sure I would be slightly out of breath and definitely feeling faint.

Gym IPodiquette...

So having recently joined a local gym for therapy and to get more points on the "Are You Healthy?" quizzes in magazines I have some Gym IPodiquette I would like to share:

  • If I keep my ear buds in and don't make eye contact with you, assume that I either A. didn't see you (which is actually highly improbable, being that I scan the room constantly to avoid staring at the slowly moving numbers on the treadmill) or B. did in fact see you but don't want to talk. I am here to sweat, not chat. Doesn't mean that I don't love you, I just need to lose some excess baby poundage.

  • If I keep ONE earbud in and don't stop my playlist (which I keep on maximum volume so I don't hear anyone else talking or the annoying sports game on TV...or my conscience saying, "Amanda...stop running/lifting/crunching...you are hungry...eat something yummy.") then I am OK with a quick hellohowareyoui'mfinedidyouhaveababyyeahshe'sgreatnicetoseeyoubye!

  • If I keep ONE earbud in and STOP my playlist that means I am STILL OK with the quick hellohowareyoui'mfinedidyouhaveababyyeahshe'sgreatnicetoseeyou...but I'll actually ask you how YOU are doing and listen to what you have to say. Cause I'm nice like that.

  • If I take BOTH earbuds out and stop the playlist it means I either A. haven't seen you since moving back to our hometown and really do need to catch up with you B. am bored and sick of my workout anyways or C. am related to you and can't get away with ignoring you because you might disown me.

If I forget my IPod at home I'm sunk. I'm much too chatty. I may even ditch the gym and head over to the restaurant and obey my conscience. Because sometimes?

That girl knows what she's talking about.

Sid Rocks My Playlist...

Is it weird that I want to add the Sid The Science Kid 'Looking For My Friends' song to my workout playlist?

Yeah, I thought so...

So you must also think it's a little strange that I dance to the song while doing my hair in the morning and Bubbalu's watching the show.

And sometimes he's not even in the room and I keep it on just so I can hear the song.

Yep, carhazzzy over here, but at least we're having FUN.

Milestones & Fart Commercials - A Perfect Mix...

Lil Chick is 2 months old today. I am so excited that she looks normal now, with appropriate chubbiness. There's nothing like a chubby baby and knowing your milk made them that way... a super ego boost.

I love Daddy and Daddy loves me:

Lil Chick being 2 months old means Bubbalu is now almost 2 years and 2 months old. He LOVES 'Baby Sithster' (he REFUSES to say her name) and tries to comfort her when she cries. He also loves her activity gym and will often hang out with her under it:

Of course, notice he still is holding a car. Or in this next picture, a random piece that goes with his tool set:

He is growing by leaps and bounds, learning new things daily. I would say he is an information junkie at this point, copying almost every word, phrase, or sentence we say. Time to crack down on our comments, jokes and adult metaphors. Cause you know when they whip those doosies out, right? Grocery store, Grandma's house, CHURCH. "Mommy said FART! Fart Fart FART!".

That SO makes me laugh. Why?

Well, this commercial, that's why:

Why why WHY do I think potty humor is so stinking hilarious? (Hee hee hee, ignore puns, really, for your own sanity.) I'm supposed to be all classy and refined, but this completely cracks me up! Please tell me I'm not alone in this.

ANYWAYS, back to Bubbalu...

He is obsessed with letters and numbers and asks to do his letters and numbers puzzles ALL DAY LONG. I am frankly quite sick of em, but he is so excited to do them I just can't say no to him. He is also starting to do more reading on his own:

And spends an enormous amount of time standing on the windowsill, freaking out the neighbors and just taking it all in:

He's only fallen twice...that we know of. And when he does, he's just so ticked off about the whole thing he jumps right back up there. No "get back up on that horse Son" from us. Actually, Mama is usually trying to distract him from crawling up there again.

So, two months ago? Here's where we were:

And today? Feeling 'completely and incandescently happy'...

My New Favorite Commercial...

Saw this commercial for the first time this afternoon, and about fell off the couch cause I was laughing so hard:

Isn't it the best when you laugh so hard you cry?

Música Silenciosa...

I was reading a blog post over at The DiaperDiaries about the most common blog peeves that people have. What was the biggest one? Music that played automatically. Hmmm...

I like to listen to music on blogs and am a huge music fan. However, in an effort to keep the interpeeps happy...I've taken away the auto-play feature on our lovely music.

Why am I caving to this? It's MY blog, I can do whatever I want!!

Actually, it is because I have SO been there, with a sleeping baby in my arms, just getting some fun bloggy reading time, when loud music starts up and wakes my sleeping child.

However, I will continue to change up the music on my lovely blawg, you just now have to actually press the play button.

Where's the music? It is on the right side just under my profile. Not too hard to find!

And, may I make this disclaimer...if I don't like the silence, I may change it back! 'Cause like I said, it's MY blawg...

Her Uterus Must Be Tired...

Yep, the Duggars are expecting their 18th child. Read more about it here.

If I was her Labor & Delivery nurse, I would be very afraid. Very afraid.

Why?

Her uterus is tired. Tired uteri don't like to work as well as they did back in the single digit pregnancies. She's at a huge risk for hemorrhage. I pray that she is just fine with this little one.

Wonder what she'll name this one?
